Custom View with components from multiple application templates

orI would like to request some assistance with a custom veiw. I need to figure out a way to display Component Monitors from different Application Templates on one view.

For example I have Windows Server 2003-2008 Template with Total Available Memory MBs as a component and I have the SQL Server 2005-2008 Database Template with Buffer Manager lazy writes per second as a component. I would like to display both of these components in a radial gauge on the same view.

Alternately I would be willing to create a new Template that would include the components I want but if this is required I would need a way to keep history that was collected by the existing components.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Create a view using the component Custom Object Resource which is found under miscellaneous. From here you can add individual components from different nodes creating a view with exactly what you want.

I looked into that, but I want to create a view that displays these components and then apply that view to multiple SQL servers. Creating a new view for each SQL server and then assigning the specefic node/components to each view would be way too much to do. I have over 300 SQL servers, so with the component custom object I would have to create 300 views.

Outside of using those objects, if you are comfortable with HTML, then you could try custom HTML after doing a view source of the graphs you wanted, you could then add the custom html resource and add in the html there. Since you are wanting to setup components to apply to 300 SQL servers, your best option there would be to create a custom application template that you would assign to those SQL servers. Then when you view those servers in SAM, you'll have exactly what you are looking for.

You can absolutely do that. I misunderstood your question. Create a copy of an existing node details view or an application summary view. Edit it the way you want showing exactly what you want. You can then assign that as either a default view for that application or node depending on what you want to accomplish under the manage views section.

Thanks for the input, but it seems it is not quite that easy when you want to add Compenent monitors from different application templates.

From the Application summary view I cannot add Component monitors at all.

From the node details view Components also cannot be added.

Component details such as Multiple value component statistics, Component details, and all the other items under the SAM Component Detail Reports can only be added to the Component Details view type.

For normal operations you would assign those to the details view, then assign an application template to use that view then you would customize the view object, such as the Multiple value component statistics to show the components you want, but the only components listed are the ones assigned to the currently selected Application Template, not all the Application Templates.

Sounds like I have to start messing around with HTML.
