Error when compacting database in NPM v7.0

I am using Windows 2000 + Orion Network Performance V7.0
I encounter the following error when trying to compact the DB:

Maybe there is not enough space available to perform the compact. Can you create any space using the SQL mgr?

More information:
System Manager Verion 7.0.130
Orion NPM Enginer Version 7.0.76
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 - 8.00.760

How many space are needed for the compacting?

The total space usage is 613MB
The Index space usage is 327MB
The free space available in database is 277 MB
The data file path is in Drive but the SQL Server was installed in C: Drive.

How to create space using the SQL mgr?

It looks like you are using MSDE.

One suggestion would be to try this support.solarwinds.net/.../ProblemDetail.cfm

You are right. MSDE is being used.

However, the DB is only around 1G and I don't get the error "Could not allocate space for object because the filegroup is full."

Since it is my client's problem, I cannot try this and that but need to provide a working solution.
