UPS monitoring/network outages

Hi there, we're currently running Orion 8.5, and also have the latest version of toolset installed as well. We have a decently sized network.

Right now, we do not have any kind of UPS management system. What I am wondering is, is there a way to add a UPS node into my existing maps, and have Orion monitor that node, so if the site loses power, we'd have the UPS flag the network outage as power. I'm assuming I'd have to get the UPS to send a trap or Orion catch it on battery power during a poll cycle to get it.

Is this at all possible in a quick and easy setup? Or do I have to drill down into custom mibs and what not?

You can through custom pollers-

This tutorial explicitly uses UPS devices as an example-

If the UPS supports it, enable SNMP Traps and point it at your Orion monitor. The outage will reach you faster and independent of your polling cycles.

I guess those two would work. What would really be nice, is if I could my APC UPS nodes detailed in my maps, then if the UPS went into battery mode, the status would change from Green and go to Yellow, for degraded state.

I have the Custom MIB setup for Battery Status, but am not exactly sure how any chart or indicator would refelct that status?
