Two Level Alarms

I'm wondering, if there is a way to build a two level alarm system.

My idea is to define different alarms (e.g. node down, disk failure, high error rate, ...) that just appear on the NPN dashboard (= first level)

On the second level I would like to define alarms based on level 1 alarms and a custom property that contains the responsible person for a device. For example: if there is an alarm and the responsible person is A, send email to A

Of course I can do that using conditions in alarm definitions - but than I have to define every type of alarm for every responsible person.

An other idea is to trigger snmp traps or syslog events from level 1 alarms an handle level 2 as snmp trap or syslog alarms.

Is there a way to do it all with normal alarms?

I guess my question is what problem are you ultimately trying to solve with the "two level alarm system"?  As best I can tell by your explanation you just want to make sure that alarms get to the proper person that is responsible for the device, is that correct?

If that is correct then all you need to do is create a custom node property to contain the email of the person responsible for the device.  You can then use that as a variable in your alert email so that it sends to the correct person.  There is a blog posting about this located HERE.

If this isn't what you are trying to accomplish then further explanation would help.

As a note, currently the ability to trigger alerts based on already existing alerts isn't possible as far as I am aware.
