Server Alert Issue

Hi thwack forum! This is my first post on this forum but I use thwack extensively as a reference guide to my Solarwinds deployment.

I have an issue with my node down alert. I am trying to configure an alert that tells me when a server goes down. What I have so far:

Trigger Alert when any of the following apply

Node Status is equal to Down

Trigger Alert when any of the following apply

Node Name is equal to <servername>

As you can see I am using nested conditions. I have the alert set to email me when these conditions are met. When I enable this alert, I get bombarded with emails about nodes being down that are not servers.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!!

I believe you want it to "Trigger Alert when ALL of the following apply".

So if the node is down, and the node name is equal to servername, the alert is triggered. Having it set to any, means that any condition met will trigger the alert. So your nested condition is true, triggering the barrage of alerts for every <servername>.
