Is anyone using Dell OMSA to monitor hardware on your ESX systems?
I need to monitor failed power-supplies, failed local disk drives and memory.
Any tips on how OMSA is configured? Is this only working through TRAPS or can you use UnDP also?
My advice for utilizing the server agent part of OpenManage is to download the snmp reference guide here:
support.dell.com/.../index.htm
All the MIB info is explained... you can setup traps to be sent from OpenManage and poll for any of the OID's they give in the guide.
All the power supply and disk traps / oids are in the guide and should help with monitoring your hardware running under ESX.

I'm also curious if anyone has had experience with the OMSA_TAR and TARBALL and getting it working with ESX 4.
With ESX 4 being able to monitor the hardware directly, I wonder if some of that info is not availble via SNMP or the API? We had the OMSA agents under 3.5 but have not gone down that road with 4.0. Instead we are relying on vSphere, but pulling them into NTM would be sweeeeeeeet.
