scripting

I have done very little in scripting so I am more then a 'newbe' I need to write a script that will reboot cisco switches/router based on number of days since last reboot. To make it more interesting it should also un-manage the device first so it does not send an unnecessary alerts, save the config incase it was not saves the last time, reboot, then re-manage

How do i do this?

To reboot a cisco router...

You can test for @ContextNode.LastBoot in CCT. However it can't wait for the "confirm" prompt and send an <Enter>. Maybe the next CLI command after reload is Y, but I'm not sure this works.

Also, there is a "startsWith" expression, but I don't think CCT supports a NOT in an expression. I'm not sure an arithmatic test of the date (<) works.

Hi Sjweinstein - this capability is outside the scope of our config change templates. It isn't possible to manage/unmanage the node from within the script.

I've got to ask: why do you want to reload devices after a particular number of days? They're not like Windows machines... I have routers that have been up for years with no problems.

If you need to trigger a reload based on a certain anomalous event like a MALLOC syslog, you can do that natively in IOS with the Embedded Event Manager.
