SQL Server 2005-2008 Performance for DB Server

Hi,

I currently added our DB Server in APM to monitor the SQL Server 2008 Performance and notice I have been getting alerts consistently. Most of the warnings are coming from the Full Scans/sec

See attached for list of latest events.

My sepcs are on my signature.

Any idea why this is happening? We haven't had any problems with performance both Web and DB running as expected.

I'm not sure if you're using the new updated SQL Templates but they include expert knowledge that describes what what the acceptable thresholds are for these counters. For example the Full Scan/Sec reads:

This counter monitors the number of full scans on base tables or indexes. Values greater than 1 or 2 indicate that we are having table / Index page scans. If we see high CPU, then we need to investigate this counter. Otherwise, if the full scans are on small tables, we can ignore this counter. A few of the main causes of high Full Scans/sec are: missing indexes and too many rows requested.

Queries with missing indexes or too many rows requested will have a large number of logical reads and an increased CPU time.

Tested my DB Server using the new SQL Server 2008 DB Performance Counters template and I'm getting

Testing on node SVC-NETMON-SQL: failed with 'NotAvailable' status The network path was not found

The credentials according to the document is the Windows Auth on the DB server. I'm using the correct username and password but still getting errors.

SQL Server Port pass but all fails.

Based on teh screenshot you provided, it looks like you are using the new template.

I just started using the new 2005-2008 SQL template and I'm seeing very high Full Scans/Sec on our Orion SQL server. It's averaging around 150-200 Full Scans/sec. Any suggestions on what this could be? One of my DBA's mentioned the box could use more RAM. It currently has 8GB.
