WMI Monitoring

I was requested to get WMI monitoring setup so that I can see how many messages I have in queue on our exchange server. The challenge I face is that I can't seem to figure out exactly how to accomplish this with the APM. Is this only designed to monitor running services or can it go indepth like the custom MIB pollers do. Please excuse my ignorance, I'm new to this product and monitoring tools in general.
