So a while back we moved our DHCP functions to the network, most of our DHCP servers reside on 6500 vss nodes and generally its been a good experience. Except for printers. We do a lot of DHCP reservations for our printers and the goal is to have 100% of them on DHCP reservations. The problem with about 60% of our printers, currently about 130 devices, is that they don't respond to the DHCP "client-identifier 01" field. So when you create the reservation you have to use "hardware-address" instead.
I am curious how many other people have run into this, how they deal with it, and are they using IPAM to manage reservations? As IPAM doesn't currently accommodation a hardware-address option.
