Monitoring perfmon counters

Hi,

I have recently been given the task of seeing if i could set up a dashboard that monitored a bunch of different things from some servers that we currently have perfmon looking at. I have added in all of the servers into SolarWinds, and have no problem at all viewing the CPU, RAM, and other things like that on them. I was wondering if anyone could either put me in the right direction or let me know if i am not going to be able to monitor these kinds of things:

Processor(_Total)\% Processor Time
SQLServer:Access Methods\Full Scans/sec
SQLServer:Access Methods\Table Lock Escalations/sec
SQLServer:Buffer Manager\Buffer cache hit ratio
SQLServer:Databases(_Total)\Transactions/sec
SQLServer:General Statistics\Processes blocked
SQLServer:General Statistics\User Connections
SQLServer:Locks(_Total)\Lock Requests/sec
SQLServer:Locks(_Total)\Lock Wait Time (ms)
SQLServer:SQL Errors(User Errors)\Errors/sec
SQLServer:SQL Statistics\Batch Requests/sec
SQLServer:SQL Statistics\SQL Compilations/sec
SQLServer:SQL Statistics\SQL Re-Compilations/sec
SQLServer:Transactions\Longest Transaction Running Time

Are any of these able to be monitored with the NPM or SAM of SolarWinds? If so, please point me in the right direction of getting it set up.

NPM does not offer any ability to monitor custom perfmon counters, so you will be using SAM to do this. The built in SQL templates all cover the SQL counters you listed there so you assigning the default sql templates would knock these out for you. In the future if you do find you need to do custom counters that arent in a template already you can use the Component Monitor Wizard found here under SAM Settings:

I actually have a followup question now... so I was able to pull in the graphs that i needed in SAM, but they only display one graph per component box. Is there any way that i can get multiple graphs to stack together so it doesn't take up as much space on the page? In the NPM graphs, it is easy because you just add more IPs to the data source when you are building the graph, but these look like you can only have one data source... is that correct? If there is anyway to get them to stack please let me know!
