Unable to get XP system into EW

I have several machines that I can see listed in Managed Computers but I can't connect to them. I would like to update their local policy to get them to connect to the WSUS server, but I can't connect to them. When I, through EW, go to Computer Explorer and then click on the Windows Update Settings tab, I get an error that includes:

WMI Connection: No

The RPC server is unavailable.

I have verified that no firewall is running on these computers and RPC and WMI servivces are running. I have also tried runnng Check and Manage Computer Connectivity to fix this problem, but that fails.

Any ideas?

If Simple File Sharing is enabled please disable it and tell me if that resolves the problem.

To disable simple file sharing yourself, follow these steps:

Click Start, and then click My Computer.
On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
In the Advanced Settings section, click to clear the Use simple file sharing (Recommended) check box.
Click OK.

So SFS was enabled but you disabled it and still no success?

Does the error reference anything about 'File and Print Sharing' at the bottom?

Can you email us the entire error?
