Additional Polling Engine (APE) will not Sync with SQL Database

All,

In the event anyone else may come across this issue.

I have an APE that will not sync with the SQL Database.

Windows Firewall on both are off.

HIPS on both sides are off.

Antivirus on both sides are off.

Traceroute is 129ms

Solarwinds Case has been opened.

Error:

Service was unable to open new database connection when requested.

SqlException: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)

Applied and review following possible resolutions:

Enabled Pipes on SQL Network Config

Started SQL Browser

Restarted SQL

I've seen this as a bug before but way back. I'd open a ticket if you haven't already. Try running config wiz again? maybe cmd line and use /repairpackages.

Regardless, I'd open a ticket.

Ensure the time is in sync between all Polling Engines and the SQL database server. You'll also want to verify that all polling engines and the SQL database server are in the same timezone. Probably the easiest way to sync the time is to run the following at the command prompt of each server. You'll still need to check the time zones manually though.

Timezones are sync'd on both networks. They have established a connection but not sync'd.
