Working with BAM
jshepherd
I have the Beta Alert Manager(8.1.15)loaded into our primary Orion server (7.8.5) and I am trying to get a test alert to execute. The alert is supposed to trigger on a high response time, and I deliberately set the alert lower than the actual response time of the device. The alert is supposed to send an event to the event log and email me.
Result - squat!
I have my email address in all lines (To:, CC;, BCC:) and I have reinstalled BAM as well - both suggestions from earlier posts.
I would really like to get this working as I have several complex alert conditions that the built-in alert manager cannot handle.
Any help is appreciated.

Do you see the event in the event log?
Try sending a windows net message to you machine.
If both of these work, then it appears to be a problem sending mail on tcp port 25, or your mail server accepting the mail.
Do you have a Virus scanning program installed that blocks port 25 or prevents execution of unauthorized programs?
BAM is definitely lacking when it comes to testing your alerts.
It would help if you could trigger it to also check the syntax of the alert query.
