I've had a look through the forums, but couldn't see anything (if this has been answered elsewhere, apologies)..
So, the issue appears to be that after successfully adding a node into NPM for monitoring with SNMP looking at all the various aspects (disks, cpu etc). Should, the SNMP port be blocked, or someone amends the SNMP settings on the node (or whatever) the node will still report into NPM however, the fact that SNMP isn't working is not overly apparent as the statistics this gathers simply show as 'data not available' or similar & sit in a static state
The poses a couple of issues as things like disk volume stats remain static, so at a glance appear to either be in a healthy state (or not as the case may be).
What I'd ultimately hope to have in place is something that would either alert (or I could generate a report) letting me know when a node is no longer responsive on SNMP - if someone can point me in the right direction to achieve this, that would be awesome!
If this functionality already exists in NPM (am running 10.5, due to update to 10.6 in a week) again, please let me know where I can find this.
I hope the above makes sense, if I can clarify or elaborate, please let me know.
Thanks in advance,
Daniel
