WAN Killer @ High BW
jbomar
Has anyone tried to use WAN Killer on high throughput circuits - such as OC-3 or better? I need to generate about 140 - 150 Mbps and I have a gigabit path leading up to this OC-3. The issue though is that anytime I go over about 70Mbps WAN Killer seems to get pretty odd - it will say it cannot guarantee proper results and so forth - I play with the Packet Size and so forth but I can never get over about 105Mbps at any given time ... has anyone had any luck running WAN Killer at OC-3 speeds or better?
TIA,
Jason

If I were you, I'd look into using iperf to generate traffic (
dast.nlanr.net/.../)
. It's much more reliable and provides real test measurements. WAN killer is good for quick and simple traffic generation, but as you said, it's not so great at huge traffic volumes.

Jason,
To generate high amounts of traffic, you can run multiples copies of WAN Killer either on the same machine or from multiple machines.
