Alert message on Solarwinds webpage vs alert email content

Question

Hi, I have a problem with Solarwinds alerting. I have the same set of variables set both to the "Message displayed when this alert is triggered" field, and for the alert email's body. ----- APPLICATION ALERT An issue on an object you are monitoring occurred at ${N=Alerting;M=AlertTriggerTime;F=DateTime}. Faulty Appliaction: ${N=SwisEntity;M=ApplicationAlert.ApplicationName}
Component: ${N=SwisEntity;M=ApplicationAlert.ComponentsWithProblems}

Server: ${N=SwisEntity;M=Node.Caption}
Platform: ${N=SwisEntity;M=Node.CustomProperties.Azure_Platform}
Azure Resource Group: ${N=SwisEntity;M=Node.CustomProperties.Azure_ResourceGroup}

View full alert details here: ${N=Alerting;M=AlertDetailsUrl} Click here to acknowledge the alert: ${N=Alerting;M=AcknowledgeUrl} ------ When this alert fires, the email contains the values of the variables fine. BUT on the Solarwinds webpage the alert show this exact set of variables without the values. Anyone can shed some light on this behaviour? Why it is working when sending as an email and why isn't when it pops up on the webpage? Thank everyone in advance! BR,Gabor

I meant on this screen I already see that the variables don't have values

If I go into the alert details I see this:

But in the email sent, the same heap of variables have values.

I'll try to do the logfile method as well, thanks for the idea.

OK, that's good information. I have a couple more questions that may point to the issue:

1) where is "on the webpage" - do you mean the Message Center (on the menus, go to Alerts & Messages, Message Center) or just on the screen in the alert builder. Because the 2nd option (the alert screen) WON'T show you the populated alerts since it doesn't know what node you're talking about.

2) for the log file, what I mean is adding an alert trigger action "write to log file", and then write to some file on the solarwinds server. Then check the logfile each time you trigger the alert to see if the fields are populating.

Hi Leon,

In the message center none of the variables have values, just the variable names. In the email everything is fine.

I'm not familiar with the log you mentioned, which log file should I look for?
