Heard from others who said that ipMonitor Trial Version will have limited features to receive the SNMP Traps from a network device.
If not, how to check the SNMP Traps received from a network device?
Please help to check.
Hello ivantsui,
There are no limitations with SNMP Trap listening in the Trial Version.
In order to listen for SNMP Traps, there are 2 things you must do:
Both of these steps are oulined on page 148 of the ipMonitor Admin Guide here:
http://www.solarwinds.com/support/ipMonitor/docs/ipMonitorAdministratorGuide.pdf
If you would like to see all traps that come in, simply open \solarwinds\ipmonitor\logs\snmptrap.log
Hopefully this gives you enough to accomplish what is needed.
Sincerely,

Here's what you do:
In the event that you want to listen for SNMP Traps from different devices, you can create a generic Device within ipMonitor. Here's how:
You can now add the SNMP Trap Monitors to this Device.
Let me know if you have any additional questions regarding this.
If I could not find the snmptrap.log under the
c:\Program Files\Solarwinds\ipMontor\logs.
Does this mean that no trap had been received or something may be wrong?
