Custom APM script - unknown state

Hi All,

Sorry if I posted this in the wrong place. Still getting familiar with the product and the site. I wrote a custom component monitor for APM in perlscript. It appears to be working perfectly except that it goes into an unknown state every few hours. Does anyone have any advice on what I can do to troubleshoot this issue? Thanks!

Hey Kevin,

I'm no Perl expert but there are several things I would recommend: 1. Check out this help page concerning your issue. 2. Post the code so others may tear it apart and possibly help you in the process. 3. Make sure you have the proper exit codes in your code as outlined in the same help page I linked you to in suggestion1. Hope this helps!

Scripts must report their status by exiting with the appropriate exit code:

Exit Code	Meaning
0	Up
1	Down
2	Warning
3	Critical
Any other value	Unknown

I've got a few ideas before I post the script. I've turned on debug logging for this component. Does anyone know how/where can I access these logs?

On Windows 2k8 I found them under C:\Users\All Users\Solarwinds\Logs\APM\ApplicationLogs

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction though.
