Combining Component Statistical Data for alerting

We are currently researching a method for combining statistical data from two component monitors and then be able to create alerts based on the sum of these two components' statistical data:

(WMI Perf Mon) NIC 1 total bytes/sec + NIC 2 total bytes/sec = combined total bytes/sec to alert on.

Any ideas?
