APM credentials

I am trying to assign a port monitor in APM to a server without using credentials and have been unsuccessful. Is there a way to bypass using credentials for something as simple as a port or website monitor? I have looked thoughout this forum and also in the Solarwinds home page and can't seem to find an answer.

Hello,
some monitors (such as TCP port monitor) don't require credentials. However if you are assigning application to node, you have to specify credentials for whole application, even if it doesn't contain any monitor that requires them. If you know that monitors in application don't require credentials, just assign any credentials you have when assigning application to node. You can create some dummy set of credentials for this purpose.

EDIT:

Actually you don’t have to create or assign specific credentials. You can select “Inherit credentials from template” when assigning credentials to node. Templates mostly have no credentials set so this way you can assign application without using credentials.
