Would like to know if it is possible to create a VMware tools status report in NPM.
If so how can this be done with report writer.

In order to monitor the status of VMWare tools you would need to monitor the VMwareService.exe on the node using APM.
You could then use the APM component status report in the the Report Writer to report on the status of the tool.
