Daily Interface Change report

We would like to run a report that shows all network interfaces that have been enabled or disabled on a day to day basis. I know I can already automate the day to day report, but I'm unsure where to even begin on tracking interfaces and their changes. Any ideas?

First you have to monitor all interfaces, even those that are shutdown. The easiest would be to run a report of anything that was marked as shutdown that day, then the same for things that moved from shutdown to administratively up. Otherwise, you can track based on operational status, but you won't see anything that was shutdown, brought up, but has nothing plugged into it yet. Depending on the amount of interfaces you have, or will have to add, it could become quite taxing on the system. Using both status and interface availability could allow you to gather this information into a report.
