Move Patchmanager to another Server

Hello,

We are using Patchmanager on only one Server (Windows Server 2012 R2) without Orion and with EminentWare-DB on our local DB Server. We migrated our WSUS enviroment - some WSUS servers were migrated to 2012 r2 another was reinstalled under Windows Server 2016.

2 questions:

* Is there somewhere a manual or a step-by-step-howto how we can move our patchmanager Installation from one 2012 r2 to a 2016 server?
* Do we already need a separate Automation Server role for managing ether the Server 2012R2 WSUS or the 2016? I would hope we can manage 2012R2 AND 2016 using a 2016-based Patchmanager Server.

Hi,

In my last support calls they made the following clear:

1. Migration is possible (I got some links which I cant find at the moment)

2.  (important) On OS mismatch I would need a Automation role on every WSUS Server with a different OS.

Then we talked about clean install Patchmanager (only) without further Orion/solarwinds components to Speed up the Installation - but this went wrong and was not successfully because the Eminentware database can not be created.

1. You can migrate the database, but not the install:

I have seen a situation where an in place upgrade was attempted successfully, make sure you back up and snapshot everything as much as possible before you attempt it.

2. Any major OS version mismatch is going to need an automation server:
