Engineer Toolset as CACTI replacement

I'm asked to find a replacement for our CACTI installation, which has been mainly tasked with monitoring Up/Down status and recording bandwidth in/out using pretty graphs for management. The only downside is no one wants to deal with scripts and (con) figuring out cacti has been a nightmare..The replacement needs to be: 

- able to keep historical data of the measured variable (bandwidth, logged in users, etc)

- present said data in a way management can understand - (can create pretty reports)

- easy to install , configure and maintain

- must be able to send email/text if a threshold is reached or if a device is down...

i'm split between getting a nagios-enabled hardware device and solarwinds engineer toolkit...

 

any ideas?

Engineer's Toolset can give you this, but you're going to hit a limit in terms of keeping historical data.  You probably want to take a look at Orion NPM.  You can read more about it and try it for free here.
