Custom Advanced Alerts for when Polling Engine stops-fxTjc

There are 2 alerts.

These alerts use Polling Engine variables to detect when a polling engine has stopped polling. Does not depend on using a UnDP assigned to every Node or check Node Status.

1. Advanced Alert definition for when Polling Engine stops polling (Polling Completion is 100%). In our environment, when pollers are performing normal, the polling completion is less than 100%, normally running around 99.5%). So, when the pollers stopped polling, the polling completion would go to 100%.

2. Advanced Alert definition for when Last Database Sync > x minutes.

Thanks very much for sharing this work. I have imported and updated the alert but when i test fire it I am getting odd results. Please keep in mind I am not the smartest knife in the drawer and often don't even know what questions I should be asking let alone the answers.

When the alert tests the email subject comes in with the string and not the node I select for the test. below is a screen shot of the actual email I got when testing the alert.

I tried this using HTML and plain text format in the message. No change. Below the screen shot are the results from the test window.

Which version of NPM are you running? These were created using NPM v10.1.3.

When you set up the test alert did you select your Orion server as the “Alert on Network Node”?

I did select our Orion server, our NPM version is 10.2.2

I can find no issue with the 100% completion alert. It fired okay on our 10.2.2 Dev system when the Collectors stopped polling.

But, I think I see the problem with the Last Database Sync alert. I just tested the alert on our 10.2.2 Dev system by shutting down the (3) Collector services and the alert did not fire. In looking at the database Engines table, the KeepAlive is still being incremented although no data was being written to the database (the Last Database Update on web console showed no updates occurring). So my suspicion is the keepalive is no longer a reliable source in 10.2 to determine last database sync status. I’ll have to do some research to find out if there is a way to do this in 10.2? Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Can SolarWinds advise if/where in the database Last Database Update is stored or now determined in 10.2?
