As noted in the release notes, there are a couple of issues with running NCM on Windows 2008 that you should be aware of before migrating/installing NCM on this platform:
1. Scheduled Jobs
- By default, Windows 2008 sets scheduled tasks to run only when the user account it is set to run under is logged on. The workaround is to go open the scheduled jobs in Windows Task Scheduler folder directly and check the box to allow running when user is not logged on
- Windows 2008 task scheduler requires Windows credentials for every change. Any scheduled job changes made through the NCM client application will require the entering of credentials on the Security tab of the job prior to saving.
2. Realtime Change Detection
- Syslog and Trap will trigger the RTCD jobs, but they will only run when the user is logged (related to the issue described above). WARNING: The only workaround at this time is to leave a user logged in to the server running NCM. We're actively working on a fix and the goal is to get this resolved as soon as possible.
- With UAC enabled, you need to setup the NCMSyslog Server and NCMTrap Service to run as an administrator.
We expect to resolve these issues in the next release. See this post for what we're working on.
Thanks,
-Chris
