Getting this:
%ASA-2-321006: System Memory usage reached 1384%
I understand that it is incorrect information but At some point does my ASA Crash?
Also, Is there a reset I can simply do until I do the software upgrade?
You sure this isn't a bug? 1384% seems a bit excessive... What version of code on what specific ASA are you running?
Regards,
Keith
It doesn't sound good, but first you should verify you're not running into a cosmetic bug or an actual bug by calling TAC for help.
If you're running an active-standby ASA solution, you should be able to fail over to the standby in a virtually hitless manner.
Per this thread with a similar content to your error, some versions of ASA code have a bug for which there is no fixed version of ASA IOS planned for release: https://bst.cloudapps.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCus95063/?referring_site=bugquickviewredir
But don't despair, it may simply be a bug that DOES HAVE fixed releases available: https://bst.cloudapps.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCux15273/?referring_site=bugquickviewredir
There are other resources to look at, too: Cisco ASA Series Syslog Messages - Syslog Messages 101001-520025 [Cisco ASA 5500-X Series Firewalls] - Cisco
If you've run into a bug, find the real memory usage on the ASA by viewing the allocated memory in and then subtracting that value from the RAM size. You can run the command "show memory detail" in CLI and then look for the section "Summary for all pools to see the allocated memory.
But if it is a bug and the memory is actually fine, could the ASA crash thinking its not ok?
8192MB RAM
528 MB In use
That looks like your bug is only cosmetic, and the ASA should not crash. But open a TAC case with Cisco to confirm it.
