Actually, just take your best Network Engineer and hook him up with Stephen Moreau at Corona...
John - we did have fun working together on your stuff. I have recently moved from Corona and now work at SolarWinds building their worldwide training and services program. We still work with Corona as one of our two authorized training and services partners. We have lots of changes coming to the way training and services will be handled moving forward. All changes for the good (I hope). If you have any specific questions in the interim, feel free to contact me and we'll get you pointed in the right direction. You can send e-mail to me through Thwack.
Regards,
Stephen

It's nice to know third party sources exist, it's even nicer to know that as a customer you'd have access to professional services from the vendor you are licensing products from.
I think this subject of professional services snaps into another conversation regarding a single point of contact. Other vendors provide this and I miss the ability to address a problem of the day (architectural review or a migration plan to new host/servers) and be paired up with necessary parties for meaningful dialogue. The alternative is digging on support forums, opening a ticket to inevitably be assigned to the wrong team or someone in the wrong time zone using the wrong contact information further delaying the process.
Please define a SPOC
Adam Stephen from loop1 did an awesome job for us with getting a new Sam install (and a bunch of other things) up and running!
Prosperon Networks can offer you professional services in all the SolarWinds modules, including NPM and NCM as mentioned. We can cover from small installs to enterprise-size networks, and have a huge experience adapting SolarWinds modules and applying best practices to monitor devices such as Nexus 7k, Cisco Catalyst (including 6500), Netscalers, Big-IP, Riverbed, Checkpoint among others. We can configure your system up to a production level using SolarWinds as a proactive way to monitor your network. Please review our website (www.prosperon.co.uk) and contact us on sales@prosperon.co.uk.

Seriously? On Thwack I suggest SPOC w/Solarwinds, and get two suggestions for third party support services.
Yeah seriously - solar winds doesn't offer it directly to my knowledge and I know one of the companies they recommend is loop1, who I have had personal experience with.
SolarWinds' goal is to make the best software available for IT professionals. You guys are constantly under pressure to fix outages, evolve existing infrastructure, build new infrastructure, and migrate old infrastructure all while constantly keeping up to date with emerging technologies. Meanwhile, many companies still see their IT department as a cost center rather than a fundamental business enabler and just want to find a way to cut costs. Until that changes, we expect that IT shops will always be pressed to the extreme for time.
That's why we put a lot of focus on ease of use and price point. To us, those are a big part of what "best" is. Now, if in one hand we claim to try to make our software as easy to use as possible and in the other hand we make money when customers can't figure out our software and have to come to us for professional services, is that a good thing?
Sometimes we don't get ease of use perfectly right and for some companies, having an outside consultant come in to help with monitoring just makes sense. That's where our partners like Loop1 come in.
You mentioned other software vendors offering professional services in house. Different vendors take different paths on this and I'm not saying any of them are incorrect. At SolarWinds though, we focus on ease of use.
From the makers of THE packet capture network sensor optimized for NPM Quality Of Experience...
There's no doubt about it, when it comes to making great monitoring and management solutions easy to obtain, install, and get instant value from, SolarWinds does it better than most. Their support teams are very responsive, and knowledgeable about every solution set, and I have found their sales teams and management to be just as stellar, but on the customer side sometimes more temporary resources are needed to get the project completed on time and with all original business objectives realized. Now that the SolarWinds solution set includes everything needed to perform true application performance management from end user perspective, and security and performance visibility from deep packet inspection and add in Netflow to name a few, it is nice to know GMI is here to bring it all into focus. In keeping with the original SolarWinds vision of fast deployment, GMI provides all of our SolarWinds services at an expedited pace with project timelines much shorter than other enterprise-class monitoring solutions. As in anything dealing with new technology and change, the more prepared you are, the better it goes.
A summary of the value-add GMI brings to your SolarWinds Projects:

Founded in 1983, General Microsystems Inc. (GMI) is an integrator of enterprise IT datacenter and desktop infrastructure solutions, including systems, storage, and network products from industry-leading vendors. GMI has long been a leading west coast technology reseller, providing information technology (IT) infrastructure products and services to clients such as Expeditors International, The Boeing Company, Group Health and Cadence. The foundation of GMI is in its relationships. We strive for lasting integrity, consistency, and reliability with our customers and partners. In order to maintain partnerships that are built to last, we invest heavily in improving our company to ensure that all customer needs will be met. Our investment includes:
Over the past few years I have been working with organizations who find the ROI around migrating applications to private cloud easy to understand. Then their monitoring platform sits in the datacenter the way it always did. Why? Well, here are my top 7 reasons customers haven't migrated their monitoring to the cloud:
1. Didn't know they could.
2. They think there must be a security risk over what they are doing now
3. Can't imaging how a monitoring platform in the cloud could securely reach their internal devices for monitoring
4. Sounds expensive and time consuming
5. They think the migration must require downtime, causing gaps in visibility and polling.
6. They think it will impact their current licensing
7. Their sales contacts said they shouldn't - they are confused too sometimes
In fact, all of these thoughts couldn't be further from the truth. The savings seen around the usual cloud ROI is even more dramatic with monitoring platforms because they are one of the applications in your datacenter that aren't directly tied to revenue generation, unless you are a monitoring MSP which makes the need for reliability in 100% uptime a cloud advantage.
So, what would a cloud migration of SolarWinds NPM, SAM, and any other monitoring platform look like?
First, GMI assesses your current deployment including, report consumers, monitored devices, device grouping, alarms and thresholds, integration with other platforms and more.
Then, GMI prepares your cloud environment and all of your secured (encrypted) connectivity from the cloud to your site(s). in a matter of a few days. Once the cloud stage is set a new version of your Orion application is installed and the data from your existing monitoring is migrated over. Meanwhile your existing monitoring is still reporting as usual.
GMI ensures all connectivity from your private cloud to your site(s) is performing as desired and secure, and then GMI saves your Orion databases to retire the existing monitoring.
GMI can even do all of this so that none of your end users have to learn new connectivity IP addresses or machine names to view Orion dashboards, all of your devices can remain just as they are to be polled, all active directory, DNS, Windows domain connectivity, etc operates as it always did wit no changes to your environment. And while GMI is there, we go ahead and do value-add application performance management configurations and security visibility to your monitoring perspective, further increasing value from existing monitoring investments.
Using SolarWinds NPM version 11, or heading that way? No problem. GMI can design and position your packet collection sensors onsite, while placing all of your Orion platform in the cloud.
All of this migration work takes days, not weeks, and when the work is complete you have a new Orion application with all of your existing data, in the cloud where you can login to your cloud dashboards from work, home, or your favorite fishing boat. The cloud Orion platform is now also eligible for a wealth of additional integration to other monitoring, or company sites, that just wasn't possible before.
Not a SolarWinds customer? GMI can migrate any monitoring platform to cloud from the following vendors:
-CA, HP, EMC, Dell, Paesler, AppDynamics, Appnomics, Splunk, and more...really any monitoring platform can be migrated and optimized. For customers using Big Data solutions (or LEM from SolarWinds) for cloud monitoring, your savings from moving the log traffic to local cloud instead of pushing it across the WAN will be immediate and dramatic.
To find out more, or just to verify your deployment can be migrated as described here, email me directly at kent@gmi.com for a webex meeting to talk shop and do the ROI math, or contact GMI directly:
