How to set up an alert based on change in value of a custom poller?

Hi,

I'm trying to set up an alert that will trigger when the value of a custom poller changes.  I don't know or care what the starting value is, just that it changes.  When I'm writing the alert, the conditions seem to all be tied to a static number (i.e. lesser than, greater than, equal to X).  Is there a way to set the trigger if I don't know the value?  Or should I be looking under Events?  Thanks.

So .. you have a couple of options ...  you can "Use Latest Baseline Thresholds" - if a value hits outside of the range ... you will get notified.  Or you can put a "static" value in for monitoring.

OR - you can define the value ... click on the Baseline Thresholds (you can do this to a group or individual nodes) - note the statistic - you can then Define the Statistic Threshold statically so you are notified any time the threshold is exceeded.   I use the threshold baseline to monitor time skew - but for Endpoint Protection (Viruses) - if a single client reports something bad, it will trigger an alert - I have a static number input - if the number goes above "1" a triggered notification gets sent.
