Reset alerts

Question

Hi Guys,

I'm in the process of migrating our current monitoring system to the new monitoring system which is SolarWinds.

The issue that I got is on our current monitoring system, if we got an alert we can reset the status of the particular node or monitor that we monitor. And it will give the latest status, if the problem are still there.

Can I perform reset on APM monitor if I got alert to know if the issue still there.

Is someone know how to do that.

I'm equally unsure of what you're asking, but I'm going to take a stab at it anyway.

In your current monitoring you have the ability to attempt to reset the status of a problem and it lets you know if the problem is truly solved or if it's still an issue. In Orion, alerts are active until they're fixed, so I think maybe by virtue of how SolarWinds alerts work this may not be something you have to do anymore.

If it's meaningful to get a repeated notification if an issue persists, then you can use the second option in the escalations tab when you're defining your alert action that lets you re-send the message every X time period while the issue persists.

maybe you can exagerate what exactly you mean? I am not sure what exactly you were saying...

But let me try... In APM you can reset alerts, those alerts will however go off again then. What you want to do in APM is "Acknowledge Alerts" that way people can see who acknowledged the alert at what time, you can also set your alarms so that acknowledged alarms do not get set off again or dont get alarmed on at all if you acknowledge them quickly enough!

you will continue to see the real node status after you have acknowledged (or reset) the alarm, polling will continue as usual. If you do not want to update the node status you have the option to "unmanage" nodes or interfaces, that way it will stop polling everything that is unmanaged for the specified timeframe....
