How do you install and configure the LEM Reporting tool?

We have the LEM virtual appliance installed/configured in a vmware environment. I want to install the reporting tool, but am getting a couple different error messages. First, I get he message that "Task scheduler did not start." Next, I get the error message attached.

The crystal reports piece has been installed and I'm guessing that I need to configure ODBC, since I'm trying to run this on my machine. What else do I need to do? What do the above messages mean? I've added the 'manager'.

PS When I try to run any report, I get the message "No manager or warehouse selected".

First, make sure to install AND run reports "as administrator" - some stuff won't work unless you do (this is probably related to the task scheduler error).

Next, you will need to add your LEM appliance (the database IS on the appliance). Click Configure -> Managers List, type in your appliance name (assuming DNS works) and click "Add Manager", then click OK. (Warning: the test button will probably not be useful, I would not press it. Yeah, we're looking at fixing it.)

The rest (adding ODBC connections, that sort of thing) should happen automagically once you select and run a report.

Sometimes people have to uninstall and reinstall "as administrator" in order for stuff to work if it wasn't installed correctly the first time. We do have a KB that references those instructions that I can pull up if you can't seem to get past the errors.

Okay....I'm slowly working through this....

It would appear that the there should be a database component to store the data. Is this not included as part of the virtual appliance?

I had to add a DNS entry for this to work in one of my customers sites. I had done everything listed and the reporting would give an error message. Added the entry with no other changes and it just worked. FYI

Also when working with Windows 10, I was instructed to run with Compatibility mode for Windows 7. Now it works great.

Something that I found helpful when working with the manager Configuration > Credentials is the button is the "Save". Coming from a mostly windows background I was sceptical about clicking it because the fields clear out when you click it.
