External DNS Monitoring

Question

I've configured intenal DNS monitoring and this works a treat but when I try to do exactly the same thing but for an external DNS it fails, I've tried 2 or 3 different DNS servers at the moment.

Is anyone monitoring an external DNS, if you are is the config any different to monitoring an internal DNS?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Another option is to use SAM's DNS User Experience Monitor.

Have you looked into Netpath as that could test the response of DNS 53 from an external source or do you need to know it from the IPSLA perspective?
