Configuring Cisco 3640 router and Cisco Pix 515E w/ Netflow

Anybody have any steps on how to configure our devices? We cannot get them to send/receive data from Netflow to monitor web traffic.

We are unable to configure our pix and cisco3640 to allow netflow to grab SNMP data from them to monitor traffic. Basically when we go to add the pix to the netflow configurator it says a connection could not be made to the specified device, even though the device shows up and works fine through Orion but neflow will not gather data from it. Then when we go to add our 3640 the configurator says the device specified does not allow the configuring of netflow support.

Anybody have any tips on how to get our two cisco devices working through netflow? Would Solarwinds support be able to help us?

What is basic configuration between the 3640 – the PIX and
Orion? Since the interface is managed in Orion, then I recommend
double-checking the monitored sources within NetFlow settings. There was an
earlier issue where NetFlow was not detecting the new interface until the NetFlow
Traffic Analyzer service is restarted. Have you restarted the service?

Another consideration is that not all IOS versions support
or use ip route flow [ingress, egress]. A command that usually works on most
platforms is (interface configuration) ip route-cache flow.

Here is a full netflow configuration for a router that we
have in our lab.

Enable mode:

ip flow-export source Ethernet0

ip flow-export version 5

ip flow-export destination 1.11.1.140 2055

Global configuration mode (interface mode):

interface Ethernet0

description link to Tex-3750

ip address 10.199.1.5 255.255.255.0

ip route-cache flow <====

no ip mroute-cache

I don't believe you can do Netflow on Pix's. However, what you can do instead is Netflow monitor the interface that communicates with your Pix. That will get you what you're looking for (if internet traffic is what you're looking for

When configuring your router, make sure you have the port configured on the router is the same as the listener on Orion (easy to overlook).
