creating user for APM WMI

I ma having an issue getting APM to recognize an account for WMI monitoring. When testing, I had set up an account as an admin on the server to be monitored and everything worked great. My Windows Support team has informed me that they will not push an admin account to all the machines, I need to be in a different group. Has anyone ran into this, can APM WMI work with an account set up in the Performance Monitor USers group? any changes that need to be made?

You are interested in the DCOM remote access and the WMI Namespace User access sections. You will want to add permissions for the user\group to the CIMV2 namespace.

I've just tried following the instructions on the Microsoft site and I get "Unexpected error occured. Generic Failure" from the component poller. Previous to the changes on the security I got an unable to access WMI. Any ideas what else I would need to do? I'm using the latest APM (v2) and the credential account is a domain user, granted the permissions listed in the MS doc via a domain group.

We've looked into it a little, but we're not having much success. There's not much more that we can tell you. It's really a Microsoft permissions issue.

So, does that mean the error message being shown is an Orion error message or a WMI message?

Have you (Solarwinds) been able to run the Service Monitor as a non-admin user account against a Windows Server?

However, it seems to contradict itself as to whether you can change the permissions. It does however suggest you can only remotely access the windows service list with Administrator rights.
