How to populate Message column in Alert Manager

How do I populate the Message column in Alert Manager Active Alert window, e.g. when an alert is triggered, so that more information can be provided if necessary ?

This field is not used advanced alert system. It was put in place to reflect the basic alert engine and the web resources that are fed by both advanced and basic alerts.

The code has been reviewed and there is no way to populate this field for Advanced Alerts.
