Using custom variables in alert actions

After creating custom variables, I couldn't find how to use them in an alert action. They do not seem to be available as Macros, and I would like to include the value of a custom variable in a syslog message.

Is this possible somehow?

Just use the name of the custom variable you created in the macro:

E.G.
For a new custom property called "fax modem number" use:
${fax_modem_number}

It needs to use the exact syntax as what you see in the heading of the
Custom Property Editor.
