Password Recovery

Now that someone had the brilliant idea to make a "feature enhancement" and hide device passwords within NCM, is there a method to export those passwords? I am a SQL num num and prefer not to get our DBAs involved, so how can I find out what password NCM is utilizing to connect to a device?

I would really like to be able to do this too. This really causes me a massive headache in my server migration.

I think I just answered my own question, so I'll post. First thing you have to do is adjust your security settings within NCM so the username/passwords are not encrypted in database. It's under File, Settings, Security, and then uncheck the bottom two boxes.

Next open the Solarwinds Database manager from your NCM server. You'll need to add your DB server if it's not in there already. Find the Nodes table, right-click on it, and select query table. You should be able to hit the refresh button to return the top few rows, and scrolling right will reveal username/password columns.

Adjust the query to read " Select AgentIP, NodeCaption, Username, Password, EnablePassword From Nodes" and hit refresh. This will show you all nodes and their associated logins.

You can then click on File, Export, and save it to a .csv file if you want.
