Lost ability to know last time a port was used

We have started to migrate all our Catalyst 4000 series chassis to 4500s. In doing so, our Solar Winds Port Mapper no longer displays ports that are in a non-operational status. It only displays ports whose Admin Status is green. By doing so, we've lost our ability to view the last time a port status has changed. This has been our most valuable tool since we can find un-used ports at our remote offices.
This problem is also seen on our 3550/3750 switches. Is anyone else having the same problem? Any solutions?
