NCM 6.1 - search through Configuration database

We are trying to do some cleanup of our configurations. When I go through the configuration summary of NCM, it will not return a response.

I go to Configs->config summary->Advanced Search

In Search For: I type 10.10.10.10 in Configs from Selected Nodes.

I check Search whole word only and ensure the radio button beside Search the last downloaded Config from each Node only is clicked.

In Selected Nodes, I checkSea the box next to Cisco and click Search

Please Wait... appears and then--- Config for Selected Nodes Search Results--- no results were found that match your query.

I know these IP addresses are out there.

If I cannot do it through config summary, is there a way to do this? Can I do it through executing a script for all Cisco devices "show running configuration | include 10.10.10.10" ?

Any advice will be of great assistance.

It's on the Orion server where you've installed NCM. Log onto your Orion server, click on Start, All Programs, Solarwinds Network Configuration Manager and select Solarwinds Network Configuration Manager.

This is a GUI, not a web page.

The problem is due to you selecting "Search whole word only". You are searching for a number so leave that box unticked and you will get your results.

I at least made some progress. Thank you. I am guessing it is the "configs from selected nodes" or search all configs that present the problem? I did a search for configs over the past week and it produced an answer. Thanks for the assistance. Got any ideas of how to search the configuration database for particular instances.

If you select "Search whole word only" is doesn't matter whether you search all configs or selected configs. It will only search that word as a whole on the configs you've selected or all the configs.

I actually don't use the web config search interface as the GUI one on the server is much easier to use. Right now I'm trying to use the web interface to search the configs and it's not finding a single thing! If I search for say the word logging and do it in All, it doesn't find anything. But if search in "Configs from Selected Nodes" and select some nodes, it does find results but not if I select just "Cisco" again it finds nothing. Might log a support call for this to see what's going on.

This is how you use the server GUI version. On the server, go to NCM and click on Configs, Search Configs. Then down the bottom type in what you're looking for, then either add in devices or click on Select Nodes Directly and select All Nodes in the Database. So much easier to use.

So I went to NCM, CONFIGS, Search NCM Am I missing something on this? Can you please explain in more detail?
