Does Patch Manager Supports Mostly Used Applications in the Enterprise?

We are planning to buy the solution for our patch maagement i our enterprise with more than 15000 PCs and about 20000 Mobile devices and i wanted to know if there are enough application support for Patch manager !

in my experience when i installed PM inside our lab i could ony see a limited list of Adobe,Dell and HP drivers and applications. so i wanted to know how can i manage mostly used applications in an Enterprise using Patch manager. is there any repository out there or any subscription method we can use to have such functionality ?

It does use Adobe public repositories, but the main one is from Solarwinds and not public. There is a delay in when the patches get released by the companies and when Solarwinds issues them to the repository, which isnt usually very long. They do something to the updates but im not sure what. It gets very frustrating when Java gets released 8 times in 2 days but otherwise is fine.

The real power of PM over others is the reporting. The reporting functions are really good and highly customizable.

In my opinion it has most of the standard items you would use but for anything specific to an organization no it does not. You can create custom packages for any application, which unfortunately can be a pain and you will get no support from solarwinds on, but it does work.

as i was thinking of, Solarwinds hasn't worked on this subject enough. i was comparing the PM with Desktop Central from Manageengine, i can say Desktop Central has a huge power on managing list of products and their Updates which are so much useful to enterprise.

there is a question for me:

does PM uses a centralized Public Repository to download Software Updates or uses Software Update urls from every software vendor just like other app management solutions( for example Manageengine Desktop Central or Secunia) ?
