That is a really broad question, can you narrow it down for us as to exactly what you are trying to get to?
I want to know what is involved on this platform, i seem not to understand it at all. I tried to read some articles but it seems i'm getting more confused.

Orion is the root platform of all of the SolarWinds monitoring products. Solarwinds can monitor a plethora of things on your network and servers - and even workstation tracking is available. One of the best things to do to understand the product is to install the trial version of the software. It's easy to get up and working for your testing and can be as simple or complex as you need for your monitoring. And it will do alerting on the things that it monitors.
Before you go too far ask yourself the question of what you are trying to accomplish - What information would you like to gather?
