Alert for power supply

I'm currently having difficulty creating an alert for Cisco Chassis power supply. If it one was to go down I would like to be notified about it but I can't seem to find the component in NPM. We are currently running NPM 11.5.2.

I don't know the Cisco Chassis power supply but does it create syslogs? If yes, then it should generate a syslog if a power supply fails. You can then alert on this syslog by using Syslog Viewer.

The answer is yes and no, if there is something that it needs to send a syslog about then yes. I have syslog on the server set to send all logs except debugs so it should have sent something even though it was a minor alarm. So I'm kinda stuck trying to figure a different way to monitor the power supplies so we don't run into the same issue again or if we do we are notified about it.

There are a few ways to do this.

You can either poll the information from the device via UNDP and Alert on when the condition changes.

To poll the information use the Orion Universal Device Poller application on the Solarwinds servers (You will need to find out what the OIDS are for the Power Supplys, normally on the vendors website)

its important to set a unique name this will be used in the Alert if you use this method

Once you have tested you can poll the Power Supply details go to manage alerts and create a new alert on 'Custom node poller'

You can set up the device to send traps to your Solarwinds Server and use the 'Trap Viewer' to add a rule like below.

-Right Click the Trap > add Rule and set up your Alert Condition
