Two monitoring questions

Question

I have a smartgroup of WAN routers that all i'm currently monitoring is the loopback addresses.  I'm interested in monitoring not just the loopback but the serial interfaces (simple up/down).

Is there a monitor other then bandwidth so watch the status of the links?

How can I add this new monitor to the entire group and not just the single device?

Wouldn't it be great though if ipMonitor suggested SmartMonitors for monitoring the up/down status of all of your device's interfaces when you scan it?

ipMonitor can monitor the status of interfaces using SNMP.   You should be able to use the custom SNMP wizard, and the OID 1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.8.

Hi Mark

Until this post I didn't realise that ipMonitor doesn't monitor the up/down status of interfaces.  Every other product I've used does this automatically when you discover a device and it doesn't involve pinging the interface -- it's a simple SNMP poll of the interface table.

Can this please be added to the wishlist?
