sniffer / packet capture

Can anyone tell me if the engineer tools have the ability to packet sniff / capture? If not is there a good recommendation out there?

I don't believe that SW has the facility but all is not lost.

Have a look at a tool called Ethereal. It is a Sniffer/packet analyser written by Network engineers for network engineers and best of all its FREE.(www.ethereal.com). I have used a few in my time and this compares well with all of them. There is also a user forum with hints and tips etc.
