CatOS (4000 series): Unable to log in after 5.1 upgrade

Hello -

Ever since upgrading to NCM 5.1, Orion can't log in to 4000-series switches running CatOs. It is stalling at the enabel prompt; when doing a login verification using the "actions" button, you see "Enable>" several times so it looks like Orion wants a different character. But it worked before 5.1 and it looks like the device templates are all OK.

I opened a support case and sent session traces but haven't heard back yet. It's a bit urgent as today is my last day at this job and I only have a couple of hours to fix it...hate to leave with something like this hanging open. Any help appreciated. Thanks!

Yes, the original template for these devices contained the command:

Derek did provide a fix for this. Not sure what happened in 5.1 to cause NCM not to recognize the above EnableIdentifier command to function, but they changed the device template to remove that line and add these two:

We were then able to log in to the switches and perform commands, scripts, config downloads, etc. No more misleading messages stating the job failed due to failure to log in (which wasn't true), or that it was waiting for banner (also not true), or incessant scrolling of the SW>(enable) prompt in the results files.

I uploaded the template to the content zone.

Does your Cisco Catalyst CatOS-1.3.6.1.4.1.9.5.ConfigMgmt-Commands device template contain the following command?

mlinsemier

Interesting enough, I had this same issue happen with 4 devices at one of our remote locations (2800 series router, 3750 switch, and WAP's) after the upgrade to 5.1. They were working just dandy with 5.0... I haven't had a chance to open a ticket with support yet as I was waiting to see what happens over the weekend.
