Custom Property created for Groups (as Object) not shown in Reporting

Hi All,

We have Orion Platform 2017.3.5 SP5 and NPM 12.2. We have created custom properties for Nodes and Groups.

We have created Group_Name with Object as Nodes and Group_Email with Object as Groups. These 2 are mandatory fields when adding a device into Solarwinds. The group email field has value with all the required email-ids, where the email notifications or reports to be sent.

When I wanted to create a custom report on Node, Group_Name and Group_Email, I could get 2 fields (Node and Group_Name) in the report. When I searched for Group_Email, it was not showing in search as well to add as a column (output field). When I tried to look for Groups category from ORION OBJECT, does not exist. I see other categories like Alerts, Application, etc. But, not the Groups.

I think this is a bug in 12.2 version. Please correct my understanding and help me out to get the Group_Email in my report. Also, when I search for Group_Email, it takes hell lot of time and won't show up.

Please advise. Thank you.

Unfortunately, you will need to change your report to Group in order to see that custom property

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, I could see the Group_Name CP when I select to Group, as mentioned above. But, I could not get the Node CP Group_Name in my report. Even, I could not get the Node details to be populated .

Because of this, I had to do manually copy and paste all the email-ids corresponding to the CP Group_Name. Even, there is no option to export all the group names and its values (in Group_Email), from Manage Custom Properties screen.

adatole, aLTeReGo - Please see my query above and it seems to be a bug in the latest version of NPM 12.2. Need your help, if I am missing something here. Thank you.

Unfortunately, you cannot create a single Custom Table report containing both Group and Node custom properties.

Unfortunately, this would be a custom sql/swql report as this is not possible out of the box for node custom properties + groups/members.

You can report on group/group based custom properties but not on node based custom properties.

The reason for this is how the SW tables are formatted/separated.

The ContainerMemberSnapshots table and nodesdata table will likely need to be used for the custom swql/sql report.
