I've set this up using the event viewer because none of the Resource based options list a drive failure, just drive space. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
You will need somekind of software loaded on the machine that monitors that and responds to SNMP polling or traps.
In our case we use HP servers and have the HP Insight software running on them that allows us to monitor the Hardware status via SNMP.
I haven't tried it myself yet, but according to this thread you can monitor one or two SNMP OIDs that give the overall health state of your server. The OIDs for HP and Dell servers are listed. If your server has any health issue, including drive failure, then your monitor will alert you.

This answer is confusing. Can you provide further details on how to do this? I scoured he IPMonitor inerface attempting to set up and SNMP to monitor hard drive failure in our Dell PE Servers only to find nothing. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Kml57,
That should be all that is needed.

Install OMSA and/or configure a DRAC card. In DRAC you can configure it to send SNMP traps (to ipmonitor) or just an email when a critical failure is occuring, it also detects "imminent failure" of HD's.
