If you want to know what we are working on post IPAM 1.5

The IPAM team is busy at work on a number of highly requested enhancements:

1. IP Address Multi-Edit - the ability to select more than one IP and edit properties and fields

2. Import Locking - when importing IP data into an existing subnet and duplicate subnets exist, the ability to choose which subnet to import the IP data to.

3. Subnet Definition Import - the ability to import subnet definitions in mass

4. /31 and /32 Subnet Support - ability to add and manage /31 & /32 subnets

PLEASE NOTE: We are working on these items based on this priority order, but this is NOT a commitment that all of these enhancements will make the next release. If you are interested in chatting with us about any of these item or assisting, please let me know.

What?...no grouping by custom property? Please bubble this one higher in the priority list.

It is on the list, these items just ranked higher based on customer demand, but as always if others jump on this priorities can be shifted around.

I'm new user here, I've question.

I've arround 100 subnet and I want to monitor from these subnets only the IPs that above 200

I don warry about the ips from 1 to 199

is that possible in IPAM????

Yes, that is possible. You can do this multiple ways, you can create empty subnets and populate just the IP's you want or create those same subnets with all the IP's and then delete the ones you don't want or import the IP's from a spreadsheet

For me, one of the soon "need to have" on the feature list, is the ability to search also on the custom fields, and descriptions.

Like what subnets do i have in Belgium ? - Or what subnets do i have in Montreal ?

And what IP´s in New York is having this or that attribute

Jesper, completely agree and I had that high on my list, but it missed the cut for the current release we are working on. How would you rank order or priority for you to search across these items:

Subnets
Groups/Folders
DHCP Servers
DHCP Scopes

Are there any plans to support Linux DHCP servers? Not everyone drinks the Windows Koo-laid, and we too would like to monitor our DHCP scopes. Non-Windows DHCP server users seemed to get swept under the rug and lose out cool functionality more and more these days. So right now I got a whole tab in IPAM that is non-functional. Seems like a waste of $$, buying something and then losing out on one of the main parts of the system.

Thanks for the feedback. This is actually the second request I've seen in the last week for supporting DHCP servers running on Linux (the other post is here, asking about creating DHCP operations in IP SLA Manager for a DHCP server running on Debian).

Who else is running their DHCP servers on Linux? Speak up... the more requests we get, the more likely we are to take a closer look at adding support for it.

Hi Brandon,

Here are a few suggestions about interesting enhancements for IPAM:

-Possibility to use /31 and /32 subnets (I have seen that you are working on, it is a good thing).

-Possibility to search a subnet and not only addresses (for interco subnets it is usefull).

-For the allocation Wizard, we have to select a supernet in the tree before using it. It could be nice to be able to open the SAW from anywhere and to have a list where we can select in which supernet we want to get a subnet. For example, I want a new /24 for my network in Paris, I open the SAW and just select in the list the Supernet "France"...

-When we are in a search result or in the subnet allocation wizard and we want to come back to the tree, the tree is closed and we are back to the top...

By the way, do you have an idea of when the next release will be available and the content?

I'm running ISC DHCP on my FreeBSD box and I'm unable to monitor it in IPAM too. It would be beneficial for all if that feature was implemented. I can offer my hand in testing during implementation against systems I have access to.

I would like to request that DHCP reservations are handled differently.

At present if a monitored DHCP server has a reservation, IPAM's Last Result shows as the last scan time even if the IP is not responding.

This does not help me know if the host is on the network or last on the network.

We are tracking this request. It won't be changed for the release that is currently in RC, but we will look at options going forward.
