upgrading to 10.5 build 1531

I have upgraded to 10.5 from 10.1. 10.1 had no downtime for 2 years! we are now finding that the ipmonitor service just stops. it it linked to the "local account" (same account as 10.1 used) on a Windows 2003 server. we changed nothing other than upgrading. it is making the product unusible and i will have to revert back to 10.1 if this cannot be resolved. I have unlimited monitors i.e 1147 and always in maintenance.

Have anyone had this issue or has a fix.

This will require some investigation. As you are under maintenance, can you possibly open a new support case using the following form:

http://www.solarwinds.com/support/ticket

We will need to have a look at the following file to start:

-\ipmonitor\logs\ipmfatal.log

Hi sspca, We have not had any reports of this that I am aware of. My suggestion would be to open a support case so they can review the logfiles and help you collect further diagnostics.

I have also had a similar issue and have been using ipMonitor since version 6. After upgrading from 10.1 to 10.5, the ipMonitor web page will sometimes crash when using it, such as clicking on a monitor to edit it. When this happens, I verify that the ipMonitorSrv Service is actually still running and I see it running in Task Manager, but the web page is down as well as no alerts are sent anymore. I then need to stop and restart the service. I am waiting to open a ticket because, in my case, I plan to migrate my installation to a new server within the next 2 weeks, from 2003 now, to 2008 R2. If this problem persists after the move, I will then open a ticket.

After migrating to a 2008 R2 server, I have not encountered this problem, all seems to be running good now.

Hi Chris

We run a repair on the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 on the server as instructed but we still have the service stopping. the error is

Faulting application ipmservice.exe, version 10.5.1531.1 faulting module ntdll.dll

I have to restart the service twice a day. If I revert back to my snapshot i will lose all my logging data for 7 days. we rely on ipmonitor for weeknd alerts as we are not in the office. Hope yuo can help as it''s causing some concern and a great deal of overtime!

Please wait 10.6, or ask for a buddy drop with the fix.
